Is buying a travel bag for seniors any different than buying travel luggage for a man or woman in their twenties, thirties, or forties? When you speak to seniors, or if you read niche senior blogs or age-centric magazines, you’ll learn right away that seniors have different sets of buying standards than those who are half their age.
Following are four important features that seniors want when they’re choosing suitcases and luggage.
· Seniors prefer investing in leather travel bags as opposed to plastic, vinyl, cloth, or soft-sided materials. Why? They buy it once and it will last for the remainder of their lifetime. Other types of materials can rip, tear, or get damaged. Rarely does that happen with a leather bag. Plus, if it’s insured, seniors will recoup a larger monetary amount just because it’s leather and it most likely has a longer lifetime warranty.
· This probably goes without saying, but most seniors prefer to invest in wheeled luggage. The seniors’ bones, muscles and physical limitations aren’t realized as much when they can wheel a travel bag around, as opposed to loading it up with their belongings and trying to carry it through airport terminals, or around a city that they’re traveling in.
· Certainly not every senior has Alzheimer’s but by monogramming their luggage with either their initials or their first initial and their last name, it’s just one more way of assuring the senior and his or her family that if the senior’s baggage is lost or stolen, that it can be returned with much more likelihood.
· Seniors love having a lot of compartments, zippered mini bags, and specific spaces inside their luggage where they can store and organize their belongings and treasures. Sometimes when a suitcase or carry-on just has one large space to hold everything, it proves to be more difficult and challenging for a senior to find something in the bag.
When you want to delight someone in your life who’s a senior, or if you’re considered a senior citizen, and you’re scoping out leather travel luggage for the most features and benefits before you hand over your hard-earned money, now you’ll have a source of reference to use before making your next purchase.
